Understanding Bereavement Stress And Anxiety | Quays Clinic Of Hypnotherapy

Grief And Loss

One of the hardest parts of the bereavement and grieving process is understanding all of the different stages and how to deal with each one. The stress of losing a loved one is enough without having the confusion of why you are feeling the way you do. If you have never bereaved the loss of a loved one, learning about bereavement is important. Some have found that hypnotherapy helps them to get through the tough times and move forward. Learning what best works for you and the stage you are in will help you tremendously though the other side of your pain.

What is Bereavement?

To explain it simply, bereavement is losing something or someone that is close to your heart. It is painful and often leaves you feeling lost and incomplete and/or deeply saddened or angry. It can also mean that you are being deprived of something or someone that once held a special place in your life. Missing a friend because schedules conflict or miles separate you is an example of non-loss related bereavement. Going to bereavement counseling helps you to get through the ordeal in a constructive way rather than self-medicating or even shutting those feeling off. There are also bereavement support groups available so that you never have to feel alone. You can find them online and in person. The online groups are great if you are shy, busy, or cannot get to a physical group. However, actually going to a local group may yield more benefits.

What Is Grief?

Grief is very similar to bereavement, in that you are coping with a loss. It is important to learn about grief and all of the different stages that you should expect to go through. Each stage has its own characteristics, and each is equally frustrating. You will experience sadness, shock, denial, depression, anger and healing. There is not a set period of time that you will experience each stage. It is also important to understand that you have to grieve in your own way and at your own pace.
Counseling and hypnotherapy have been known to help several suffers to get past the dark days and back into their normal routine. The circumstances that cause grief, pain and bereavement are different for each person as some loved ones are taken suddenly in a tragedy and others pass from illness. You need to have a support system in place to help you through the processes.
