How To Stop Smoking With Hypnosis | Quays Clinic of Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis To Stop Smoking

If you are looking for hypnotherapy in Newcastle to stop smoking the very first step in quitting smoking is to first of all have the desire to do so. Those that are forced to quit using many of the other stop smoking products available on the market have an 80-percent failure rate. The want to quit has to be greater than the need in order to be successful. Along with that first step comes building a support system that includes a group of family and friends to help keep your confidence level up. Without a support system in place some people find it hard to fight the cravings and make it past the first few days. Using hypnosis to stop smoking you will discover that you do not have to feel anxious at all because hypnosis is incredibly effective at stopping nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

What Stop Smoking Products Are Available?

There are dozens of products on the market to help you quit smoking. The most popular are nicotine patches, nicotine gum and stop smoking inhalers. They do work well for a small percentage of people and come in three steps, each with different nicotine concentrations. To fight the oral cravings, hard candy and chewing gum occasionally work but by far the best way to quit smoking is with hypnosis. Those that smoke menthol cigarettes will sometimes benefit from mint flavored candy and gum. The non-menthol smokers quite often enjoy cinnamon flavored candies and nearly any flavor chewing gum. Nicotine enhanced chewing gum is available but more as a craving curbing device than anything else. While it does contain some nicotine, it is not enough to completely stop a craving in most cases. The flavor does wear off quickly and the effect is lost generally within 30 minutes.

Many smokers that are trying to quit combine the nicotine gum with a mouth spray that contains nicotine but unfortunately this is not a very effective method to stop smoking. It gets into the pores in your mouth and is supposed to last longer than the gum. Success is supposed to be increased with this method when the two elements are combined at the right time. For those that have tried to quit several times and failed often try Chantix which is a prescription medication that still allows you to smoke for the first week of use. The company that produces Chantix claim that It is designed to slowly decrease your cravings and have you smoke-free within just a few weeks with no cravings (many people discover that this is simply not true). As with any medication, there are side effects and some can be serious. The most common is increased anxiety and irritability.

What About Electronic Cigarettes?

There is also another way to quit smoking and that is by using an electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes. Some do contain nicotine and is said to be not enough nicotine to cause any further lung damage (personally I do not believe this). The e-cigarettes are available in many flavors and emit only water vapor. No harmful chemicals are emitted into the air. The downside of these is that they are expensive and do require charging. Another problem with e-cigarettes is that they still don’t break the psychological habit or images of putting a cigarette to your mouth.

As you can see from reading the above there are quite a few options for quitting smoking. Some people have the willpower to quit smoking using “cold turkey” and never turn back. For most, this is absolutely not the case. Explore the options and decide which method will work best for you. It is perfectly acceptable to try several methods before finding one that actually works. It is important to remember that many people try and few succeed on the first attempt with many of the different on-line smoking products and that they should not become frustrated and give up trying.
