History Of Skin Care
The history of the care of skin dates back to the Egyptians. They were the first folks to create a plan for body cleansing. After that, the Greeks and the Romans used this same cleansing plan to keep their skin beautiful and healthy. In the latter part of the 1500’s, folks began to use masks as part of their face skin care. The masks were mainly made with almonds that were pulverized.
What Are The Four Basic Steps To Skin Care?
There are four basic steps to skincare: cleansing, toning, moisturizing and exfoliating. Learning about skin care isn’t hard but it is necessary for the best skin care. Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be expensive either. Nowadays, there are high quality skin care products available at your local pharmacy. These products are specially made for oily, dry or normal skin. There are more and more products coming out on the market dedicated to organic skin care as well.
Skin Care Tips
If you do not follow any other skin care tips, you need to follow this one. Proper cleaning of your skin needs to be done in order to get rid of makeup, pollution, dirt and grime. This should be done at least twice a day, in the morning and at night before bed. Be sure that you use warm water and not hot since hot will irritate your skin. Also, stay away from products that have alcohol or sodium lauryl sulfate since those take moisture away from your skin.
Skin Care And Toning
The second part of your skin care regimen should be toning. Toning involved using an astringent product to remove the oils from your skin. This step only needs to be done if you have oily skin. Using a toner product on your skin will take away all of the oils from the skin and will dry it out. This will make your skin produce more oils.
Skin Care And Moisturizing
Moisturizing is also an optional step. If your skin is oily, you really do not need any additional moisture. If your skin is normal, then you may use a moisturizer that will not clog your pores. If you have dry skin, then you are already most likely aware that you need to moisturize in order to soothe tightness and minimize lines.
Skin Care And Exfoliating
Exfoliating can be done physically or chemically. Physical exfoliation involves a grainy facial scrub. You want to stay clear of products that contain ground up nut shells or apricot shells since these items contain edges that could damage your skin. Chemical exfoliation uses Alpha Hydroxy Acid or Beta Hydroxy Acid to loosen and get rid of dead skin.
